Baby’s Learning

Sleeping babies look so peaceful! At the same time they are doing heavy work. Under the light hairiness one of the most complex structures in the world develops: a human brain. This amazing organ grows differently than any other organism. For, while a kidney is constructed according to an exact blueprint, only the number of nerve cells and their coarse structure are fixed in the brain. Not more. Everything else depends on the experiences it makes. Noises, smells, temperature differences, light and shadows, colors, movements, skin contact – whatever influences the child determines the physical structure of the brain.

The baby’s brain has been growing since the 3rd Pregnancy Week The central nervous system and brain are among the first construction sites to embark on an embryo. Already in the 3rd SWS forms the so-called neural tube, which later becomes the spinal cord. At the upper end, four vesicles, the basic building blocks of the brain, are produced in the fourth week.  From the third week, the nerve cells of the embryo begin to divide, and at the same time set a fairly fast rate: half a million new cells are produced per minute. That’s 720 million a day. Already in the middle of the fourth month a fetus has more than one hundred billion nerve cells. So many of them have to be enough for the rest of their lives. The importance of our mental organ is shown by the fact that it is more than half the size of the embryo.
